The Harpy Eagle

Abstract: The Harpy Eagle of South America is one of the largest great forest eagles and it dominates its territory in North Central South America. It has been feared and honored by the area natives for centuries and its feathers were used for religious purposes. Its population has been greatly reduced because man sought it as a trophy and logged the bird's habitat thus destroying its home.

Mr. John Ruthven resides in Georgetown, OH
