Dust Devil

Created in 1973 as a playful legacy, Addison Clipson purposely put a beer can on top of his fountain sculpture to represent "something that could easily be swept up by a Dust Devil." A dust devil is a miniature whirlwind able to lift up dust, leaves and litter into the air. Keeping the definition in mind is exactly what Clipson was thinking in its design. "I wanted something that was kinetic and moved like a dust devil does.”
