Allen is a Research Collections Librarian within the Research & Instructional Services (RIS) Division of Steely Library. He also serves as adjunct faculty for the Department of Communication Popular Culture program and the Department of English Cinema Studies program.

Allen is from Dayton, Ohio, the Birthplace of Aviation. His has a Bachelor of Arts in Motion Pictures from Wright State University and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University, Bloomington. He specializes in popular culture topics, and is the Area Chair for Libraries, Archives, Museums, and Libraries for the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association. His publication/presentation topics include comic books in libraries, the Alamo in film, the Marx Brothers, and the Civil War in East Tennessee. His current research focuses on the effects of the Van Allen belt on fresnic freen modulations. Allen enjoys tamanduas and hiccups. Pet peeves include lunar eclipses and pig-Latin haiku.
